The Public Health AmeriCorps Member will act as a Resource & Liaison for Grade 8-12 students. This member will support students by keeping them informed of available opportunities, assisting them with connection to community-based resources and working with individual students to develop and stick to their personalized success plan. The member will accomplish this by:
- Meet with new students to determine what necessary supports and interventions a student could use.
- Schedule bi-weekly check ins with a caseload of students – while providing organization support, checking grades, making and tracking progress on individual success plans, executive functioning checks, and updating the basic needs assessment for each student and keeping them informed of opportunities available to them while connecting them with needed services (health, dental, food stamps, scholarships, etc)
- Provide academic support for students during scheduled study hall periods or afterschool.
- Provide targeted assistance with "how to" skills related to Social Emotional Proficiency based on a self-completed assessment by students.
GoodwillNNE Eligibility:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States (documentation required)
- Satisfy the National Criminal History Check eligibility criteria pursuant to 45 CFR 2540.202
District Certification:
- Maine CHRC clearance and compliance with GoodwillNNE requirements.
