LISBON SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION TEACHER
Gartley Street School

The Lisbon School Department is seeking a highly qualified and passionate teacher to support students in our Alternative Education program. The position serves students with a wide range of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, including students with various special education needs who benefit from a smaller, more individualized learning environment. The program places a strong emphasis on developing workplace readiness, vocational skills, and essential “adulting” skills to prepare students for success beyond school.
The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in responding to students needs and will be able to develop creative, out-of-the-box strategies that promote student engagement and success. This education will be skilled at problem-solving, thinking creatively, and implementing individualized supports that help students overcome barriers to learning while building practical life and career skills.
Strong candidates will be committed to supporting at-risk students in reaching their personal, academic, and vocational goals. They will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, a high level of self-motivation, and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff. Experience supporting students in developing workplace readiness skills, independent living (“adulting”) skills, and real-world application of learning is highly valued.
