SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - FUNCTIONAL LIFE SKILLS (High School)
(to begin 2026/2027 school year)
The Lisbon School Department is seeking a passionate and dedicated high school Functional Life Skills Teacher. This position focuses on supporting students with diverse learning needs by developing essential life, social, and vocational skills that promote independence and success beyond the classroom.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Design and implement individualized instruction focused on daily living, communication and vocational skills
- Develop and manage Individual Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with students’ transition goals
- Provide instruction in community-based setting (e.g.: job sites, public spaces)
- Collaborate with families, related service providers, and school staff
- Support students in developing social skills, self-advocacy, and independence
- Track student progress and maintain compliance with state and federal guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid state certification in Special Educations (ME 282 or 286)
- CHRC certification
- Experience working the high school students with significant or diverse needs
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of transition planning and community-based instruction is a plus
